Aegean Shipping Supports SOS Children’s Villages

For yet another year, continuing his charity work, George Melissanidis responded to meet the needs of food and personal hygiene items of the SOS Children’s Village in Vari for the year 2016. The SOS Children’s Village in Vari (http://www.sos-villages.gr/) was the first to be created in Greece, in 1982. It consists of 10 SOS family houses for 52 children 4-17 years old.
During this past September the children welcomed Irene Panagopoulou of Aegean Shipping to their home and Mrs. Panagopoulou presented the donation on Mr. Melissanidis’ behalf. The children shared with Mrs. Panagopoulou their experiences of their life in the village, their school performance and memories of their summer vacation.
On October 26 the children of the SOS Children’s Village of Vari, accompanied by the Chief Executive of the SOS Children’s Villages, George Protopappas, and the Director of the SOS village in Vari and the youth program “Stegi Neon,” Epaminondas Lorandos, visited Mr. Melissanidis at the Aegean Shipping headquarters in Piraeus. During their visit the children gave Mr. Melissanidis a special gift to thank him for his support: a little ship that they made themselves!
